Rugby – The JCB Academy vs Trentham High School

Trentham High School 45 – JCB Academy 25

The JCB Academy’s U16 boys second rugby match of the season was an away trip to Trentham High School. Another great afternoon of rugby and it was easy to see the boys starting to settle with each other and was reflected with steals against the head in both the lineout’s and the scrum.

A high scoring game (7 try’s to 5) that was full of opportunities, that sadly we could not always capitalise on. The opening exchanges saw The JCB Academy apply large amounts of pressure on Trentham High School, and the scores were matched evenly at two each, but a couple of simple errors saw Trentham High School capitalise and run in two easy scores that were converted. A good rousing half time talk from the senior players saw a new positive energy. With a mantra of “do the simple things right”, the boys dug deep and we matched their scoring. All the try’s were hard earned but sadly the conversions did not go our way to tighten up the score line.

Man of the match, Alex Scullion, two good try’s and positive ball delivery from scrum half all match.
Tries – Alex Scullion x2, Danny Thompson, Jamie Wain and Charley Bradbury.
