High quality facilities
The JCB Academy is based in a carefully adapted and renovated mill, which (appropriately) was built by the famous industrial entrepreneur and engineer, Richard Arkwright, in the late 18th Century.
The refurbishment, along with the addition of a purpose built glass-fronted learning wing, has created a state-of-the-art educational building that is ideal for engineering and business studies in the 21st Century. In addition to the learning areas, we have 12 workshops, fully equipped for work on real-life engineering projects.
In 2017 we launched a £2.1m state-of-the-art facility for our higher apprentices, The Dove Engineering Centre.
In 2021 we launched The Bill Turnbull Suite, a robotic and automation facility for our apprentice and post-16 learners.
Break-out areas
Throughout the building, there are break-out areas for relaxation and private study.
Interactive technologies are at the heart of much of the learning here – learners are each provided with a laptop for their own use, and much of the learning makes use of the VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) with a wireless network extending across the entire campus.
We are proud of the state-of-the-art facilities that are available to our learners and delighted to offer a demanding, but stimulating learning environment, where learners achieve and learn by ‘doing’.
