Mitigating Risk at The JCB Academy

Updated 25/08/2020

At The JCB Academy we wish to do all we can to mitigate risk posed by COVID-19. In line with the World Health Organisation advice, where there may be groups of learners travelling to and from their classes we will be asking learners to wear their masks until we are confident regarding the spacing of learners through our narrow corridors.  They will not need to wear masks in their classrooms, just on the corridors around the academy. Some learners with health risk assessments will be exempt from wearing masks. If you have any concerns regarding your son/daughter, please contact Miss Woolley, Assistant SENDCO, on 01889 506100 or email s.woolley@jcbacademy.com
This precaution will be reviewed regularly.

We ask families to continue to stress the importance of good hand hygiene and to remind learners to use the hand sanitisers as they enter their classes. Learners are also reminded that they will need to remain at least two metres away from members of staff. If a learner is feeling unwell with a temperature or any of the coronavirus symptoms (please see below), then please book a test and remain at home until you have the result. Please be aware that you do not need to exhibit any of these symptoms to book a test.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
