London Eye Engineering Experience

London Eye Engineering Experience

What an experience!

There are few people in this world that can say they’ve been on the London Eye at night after it’s closed, had it stopped while the hydraulic drive system is retracted, then moved under the iconic wheel, closer to the water to look at the hydraulic power pack, discussing how it works, looking at the pumps and valves and the preventative maintenance required to keep the London Eye running.

Yesterday was a long day and learners were late back to their accommodation but this was the culmination of classroom based learning, the practical application and then putting learning into context by seeing it in action. The Year 13 Bosch Rexroth challenge epitomises the work we do and helps fulfil the academy’s vision of changing lives by developing the engineers and business leaders of the future.

Our thanks go to the teams at Bosch Rexroth and Merlin Entertainments for their continued support of The JCB Academy and its learners. We will see you next Friday with the second group!
