Free websites for voluntary and community groups

The long school hours at The JCB Academy are more like business hours, rather than most schools but learners and staff are rewarded every Wednesday afternoon for their hard work, when they have the chance to all participate in one of the academy’s extension activities: Go-karting, Airsoft, Hair and Beauty, Robot Building, Photography, Golf, Ten Pin Bowling, Fishing, Mountain Biking, Clay Pigeon Shooting, 3D Design and many more.

The latest addition to the list of activities is website design, where learners have the opportunity to learn how to design and build a website over a six week period. However, instead of building a website for themselves, and under the guidance of the tutor, learners will be producing websites for Staffordshire based voluntary and community groups.

The website design activity was initiated and is also taught by Mr Caine, The JCB Academy’s PR and Marketing Manager. Mr Caine joined The JCB Academy in June 2016, having previously spent eight years working in a similar role for a charity based in Stoke-on-Trent. Mr Caine said, “I know from previous experience of working in the voluntary sector how difficult it is for these small groups to afford a professional website. It’s a great opportunity for both parties, the voluntary and community groups get a free professional website and the learners at the academy learn how to build them.”

Groups can apply for a free website design and if successful their website project will be assigned to one of the learners. If you are a voluntary and community group based in Staffordshire and would like a free website built by one of The JCB Academy learners then please apply by clicking here.
