Environmental and Sustainability

At The JCB Academy we are keen to include the latest technology in our approach to caring for the environment.

The Archimedes Screw in the mill race (under the bridge at the rear entrance to the building), generates enough electricity for 80% of our needs. Our heating is produced by a biomass boiler and much of the water that is used throughout the building (other than for drinking and consumption) is rainwater, harvested from the roof.

Our external landscaping means that in addition to the common-room areas, there are pleasant outdoor seating spaces for our learners to use outside of lesson time.
