Australia Exchange 2017 – Day 3

Day 3: Monday 20th February 2017

Waking at around 07:00, Miss Bailey and the learners proceeded to take a leisurely stroll along West Beach before being collected at 09:00. Even at that time in the morning, the temperature was recorded at approximately 18◦C. Again, a little chilly for the Australian’s!

At 09:00 Mr Kelly arrived to collect our staff and learners to take them on a driving tour of Adelaide and the Metropolitan beaches. Whilst on their orientation, the learners were shown the spot where the colony of South Australia was proclaimed and established by Captain John Hindemarsh in 1836; The Old Gum Tree in Glenelg, the TAFE training facilities at Port Augusta, the Adelaide Hills etc.. During lunch, the learners were introduced to the famous Farmer’s Union Iced Coffee, only available in South Australia. Once the tour of Adelaide had ended, staff and learners were then transported to St Patrick’s Technical College in Elizabeth where they were provided with a tour of the school and introduced to the staff. Later that evening, St Patrick’s staff put on a welcome BBQ where the Academy learners were introduced to their host families, who they would be staying with for the fortnight.
