Australia Exchange 2017 – Day 12

Day 12: Wednesday 1st March 2017

Another extremely hot day was forecast on Wednesday. Miss Bailey, Evie, Rob and Jonathan made their way into Adelaide city centre for a spot of gift shopping. At 10:30 the temperature was recorded at 33◦C, but the shops on Rundle Mall offered air-conditioning and shelter from the heat.

Our staff and learners then made their way to Glenelg for lunch and a walk along the stunning white sandy beach.

In the evening, Miss Bailey, Evie, Rob and Jonathan, along with their Australian hosts and their families, were taken to a local Go-Karting track in preparation for their day at the Clipsal 500 an annual motor racing event for Supercars, held on the streets of the east end of Adelaide. Throughout the week, this had been a point of conversation between Rob and his Australian host, Declan. As the racing began, it was clear that Declan and his younger brother were expert racers! First place was won by Connor (Declan’s brother), following him in second place was Declan and then followed Rob in third place.
