Y9 Bentley Motors Business Challenge

Year 9 Launch Their Bentley Motors Business Challenge

Our new Year 9 learners have made an exciting start to their journey at The JCB Academy with the launch of the 2025 Year 9 Business Challenge in partnership with Bentley Motors.

We were delighted to welcome back two former learners, Tim and Ethan, who are now working with Bentley. They returned to present the challenge and arrived in a brand-new Bentley Continental GT, giving learners a unique opportunity to see and sit inside this iconic car.

Over the coming weeks, our learners will work in teams to complete a challenge that reflects real-world business and engineering practice. They will:

  • Select a Bentley car model to be produced as a miniature toy car for Bentley’s merchandise range.
  • Research the chosen model, considering scale, design, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Identify and justify a target audience for their product.
  • Develop a business plan, including manufacturing strategy and cost analysis.
  • Create a market strategy, covering pricing, distribution, and product launch.

In addition to applying their creativity, business knowledge, and problem-solving skills, learners will also be developing key transferable skills that underpin success both in education and the workplace:

  • Teamwork – collaborating effectively to deliver a shared outcome.
  • Project management – planning, organising, and meeting deadlines.
  • Respect – listening to and valuing the ideas of others.

This challenge not only provides our new Year 9 learners with an engaging and memorable start to their academy journey but also highlights the strength of our partnerships with leading employers such as Bentley Motors.

We look forward to seeing the innovation, creativity, and professionalism our learners will demonstrate as the challenge progresses.
