Please consider a few hours practice on dry slopes to 0 week practice as experience on a difficult gliding surface will surprise beginners. Lower intermediate (less than 3 weeks practice) You can go down green slopes with confidence and even blue ones. You begin to master your speed and control skis. Intermediate (3-5 weeks practice) You master your speed and control your skis on blue slopes. You can go down red sloped when they are even but have more difficulty when there are moguls. I understand that any failure to abide by the conditions of participation while on the trip may result in disciplinary action being taken on the trip and, in more serious cases, on return to school. I understand that in the most serious of cases, I will be immediately sent home and my parents/carers will be charged for the flight. I understand that persistent absence (attendance lower than 90%) and/or failing to behave in an appropriate way in and around the academy may jeopardise my place on this trip. That means: completing work set; arriving on time and equipped to lessons; listening and following instructions; making the correct decisions; not being removed from lessons, set detentions, or suspended internally or externally. I understand that if I receive in excess of 100 negative house points (from the start of the 2023/24 academic year up until when we depart on the trip), I will lose my place on this trip. I understand that if I decide to pull my son/daughter out of the trip at any point, the deposit and the first instalment will not be refunded and the remaining balance will only be issued if a replacement is found. I understand that the academy reserves the right to remove any learner from the trip if, after discussion with parents/carers, there remain concerns for the safety of the learner, other learners or staff. Although all safety measures will be put in place to reduce risk, there may be situations where risk cannot be managed effectively through reasonable adjustments. In this situation, you would be entitled to a full refund. Learner Expectations I have read, understand and agree with the points above and agree to discuss this agreement and the behaviour expectations with my son/daughter. Academy property, hotel property or the property of another person to be respected. Learners to be polite and not use foul or inappropriate language. The JCB Academy will not accept the following behaviour: Verbal assaults on staff or other learners. Physical assaults on staff or other learners. Substance abuse. Racially motivated incidents. Homophobic or other discriminatory behaviour/language. Behaviour which is against the criminal law. Bullying, which includes cyber-bullying. Intimidation. Possession or misuse of drugs*. Supplying drugs and the possession of drugs with a view to supplying others. Possession of knives or other offensive weapons. Behaviour that is likely to bring the academy into disrepute. * Drugs are defined as those that are legal (such as alcohol, tobacco and solvents, legal 'highs', over-the-counter performance enhancing drugs, prescribed drugs, vape oils) and illegal drugs.
