Sixth Form Grades

Student Louise Meredith at The JCB Academy

The JCB Academy has once again enabled learners to go on and pursue a wide range of fantastic careers through its links with universities and business. We are proud of the wide range of destinations that learners from all courses will be following once they have left the academy.  Many learners have secured places to study at great universities or secured prestigious apprenticeships.

Principal, Mr Wade, said: “I could not be more proud of the achievements of our young people and how the experiences they have had at The JCB Academy have prepared them for university and their future careers.  Learners excel in engineering and business at the academy and it is especially pleasing when a subject such as English literature, not traditionally associated with The JCB Academy, enables two thirds of learners to achieve A*-B grades”.

Learners at the academy’s sixth form have secured some fantastic opportunities in employment and further education, but it’s not all just about engineering and business. Josh Partridge from Mickleover in Derby gained an A* in English literature as well as a B in business studies and a C in mathematics. Josh said: “I’m extremely pleased with all my results and looking forward to studying international business at Manchester University with a year in America.”

Ollie Fogg from Repton in Derby, is considering his options after receiving a fantastic set of results, gaining an impressive A* in mathematics, A in physics and an A in further mathematics.

Maclean Asis from Alvaston in Derby is going on to study engineering with business finance at University College London (UCL). Maclean, who gained A* in business studies, B in physics, A in mathematics, and an A in further mathematics, said: “I’m extremely pleased with the results I have achieved, knowing that all my efforts were worth it in the end. I hope that this is just the beginning of my career and that I continue my hard work at UCL!”

Tim Glover from Branston in Burton-upon-Trent, who gained an A in mathematics and an A (OCR Level 3) in engineering, is off to study aeronautical engineering at Loughborough University. Tim said: “My time at The JCB Academy has been by far the best educational experience that I have had. All of the staff made me feel very welcome as well as providing me with experiences that I wouldn’t have even dreamt of at any other school”.

Going onto Apprenticeships

With our business links it’s no surprise that some of the learners have secured fantastic apprenticeship opportunities.

Louise Meredith (pictured at the top) from Stoke-on-Trent, who gained an A* and a C, is going on to a Higher Apprenticeship with JCB.

Megan Goodfellow from Littleover in Derby, who gained an A, B and C, has secured her Higher Apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover, said: “I’m so happy with my results! The JCB Academy has helped start my amazing career at Jaguar Land Rover.”
