Onward Destinations for Learners at The JCB Academy

Studying at The JCB Academy Sixth Form presents the unique opportunity to progress your career either into higher education, higher level apprenticeships or directly into employment. Throughout your two years at the sixth form we will provide advice and detailed guidance via our tutor programme and interviews with Ms Norcup, our Careers, Education & Guidance Co-ordinator and our Deputy Head of sixth form for Onward Transition. Our unique Challenge Partners network provides learners with the opportunity to access large companies and develop their interpersonal skills.

At the end of the Sixth Form, learners are encouraged to apply for university undergraduate study or a higher apprenticeship.

Higher Education and Universities

Our learners gain places at a range of prestigious universities each year and the Sixth Form supports pupils in every aspect of the application process. Our dedicated UCAS room is home to hundreds of university prospectuses and up-to-date information. Learners considering university are expected to attend tutorials, classes and meetings to ensure that they are well-equipped to submit their applications in good time.

What is a Higher Apprenticeship?

Apprentices work towards work-based learning qualifications such as a Level 4 Competence Qualification or a knowledge-based qualification such as a Foundation Degree.

Many large companies now offer higher apprenticeships and the application process can start as soon as September. At the Academy we ensure learners are well-equipped to apply to these prestigious programmes by providing interview and CV workshops.
