Year 10 learners are currently finishing off their passive smartphone amplifiers in their product design lesson. Learners start with hand drawn sketches and look at material options and practicality. Once they’ve decided on their chosen design they produce a 3D styro-foam model. For their final piece, learners select a variety of materials, some going for wood or acrylic, and those with CAD skills might opt to print their design on one of the academy’s 3D printers.
