GCSE Results – 2021

Pathway to Award-Winning Sixth Form

Learners at The JCB Academy celebrate today after receiving their GCSE results.

It’s been a morning of happy and relieved faces as students at The JCB Academy received excellent and well-deserved GCSE results through some challenging times.

The JCB Academy specialises in business and engineering with a fantastic reputation for student progress and its students’ dedication, and this year is no exception. Academy students have benefited from having their own academy laptop, dedicated teachers and superb IT structure when tasked with home-learning during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Mrs McGuirk, Principal at The JCB Academy, commented, “Following what has been an unprecedented situation, it has been wonderful to watch students celebrate their success with their families. I would like to pay a special tribute to teachers and support staff who have shown such dedication and professionalism to support their students and enable them to make their next steps.”

Top-performing student Tilly from Derby achieved seven grade 9s in her core subjects, English language, English literature, mathematics, further mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics with three *2 distinctions (equivalent to 9) and a D2 distinction (equivalent to 8) in engineering and business subjects, an A in finance and a 7 in Spanish. Tilly may continue her education at The JCB Academy Sixth Form where she’s applied to study A-level mathematics, physics and biology.

It’s a great credit to a sixth form when all of your top five achieving students apply there and this is the case at The JCB Academy Sixth Form. Poppy from Stafford, Matthew from Stoke-on-Trent, Ollie from Derby and Kate from Stafford have all applied to the Sixth Form. Poppy has applied to study A-levels in chemistry, biology and mathematics, with the remaining students choosing a diploma as their main pathway. Matthew and Ollie have both chosen to study a diploma in business with a mathematics A-level and Kate chose an engineering diploma alongside a mathematics A-level.

A substantial number of students have secured Level 3 apprenticeships with employer partners such as JCB, Alpha Manufacturing, Bri-stor Systems, Rolls-Royce, Toyota and Unilever, and most will continue their journey when they conduct their training back within The JCB Academy Apprenticeship Training Centre.
