Our Year 9 learners recently took part in The JCB Academy F1 in Schools Challenge – an ambitious project that combined design, engineering, and teamwork in the race to create and present a high-performance 3D printed Formula 1 car.
Over several weeks, learners developed skills in CAD, aerodynamics, and manufacturing before competing in a timed track race and formal presentation to staff. The winning teams were rewarded with exclusive access to two of our industry partners at the pinnacle of engineering:
-
Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team
Learners visited the world-class Aston Martin Technology Campus, presenting their work to senior engineers and experiencing a full tour of the facilities. The visit included insight into aerodynamics, composite materials, and innovation within motorsport.
-
Carfulan Group
A hands-on day of advanced engineering and 3D printing demonstrations at Carfulan’s headquarters introduced learners to cutting-edge technologies used by leading manufacturers – including Formula One teams. The visit concluded with the final judging and announcement of the overall winning team.
Congratulations to all participants for their professionalism and creativity. Special recognition goes to the winning teams whose performance has been described by partners as “incredibly impressive and industry-ready.”
