Celebrating Diversity and Cultural Heritage at The JCB Academy

On Friday, 23 January, we celebrated Diversity and Cultural Heritage, recognising and valuing the rich backgrounds, cultures, and experiences that our learners bring to our academy community.

The day began with individual year group assemblies in the sports hall, where learners delivered short talks to share insights into their own cultures, traditions, and heritage. This provided an important opportunity for learners to listen, learn, and appreciate the diverse stories that shape our community.

Following the assemblies, learners were able to move freely around 14 culture stations, each created and led by learners representing their own cultural background. These stations encourage discussion, curiosity, and respectful conversation, allowing learners to explore traditions, history, and customs from around the world.

As part of the celebration, food in the restaurant was themed around worldwide cuisines, further enriching the experience and reflecting the global nature of our academy.

Celebrating diversity is essential to building a respectful, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment. By valuing what makes us different, we strengthen understanding, empathy, and a sense of belonging, preparing learners to thrive in an increasingly global society.

We are incredibly proud of our learners for leading this event, and for the openness, respect, and curiosity they show every day.
