Best Ever Set of Outcomes

Learners at The JCB Academy have gained outstanding results across the board achieving their best ever outcomes.

The JCB Academy which specialises in engineering and business follows the ‘standard’ core curriculum, but learners also get to study engineering and business related subjects. And it’s in the core subjects as well that learners have achieved their best ever outcomes: 79% of learners achieved a grade 4 (equivalent to the old grade C) or higher in mathematics and 79% achieved a grade 4 or higher in English. At the higher grades, 57% achieved a grade 5 or higher in mathematics and 57% achieved a grade 5 or higher in English.

Principal, Mr Wade, said: “It is fantastic that despite the new harder GCSEs our learners have achieved the best ever set of outcomes at The JCB Academy. We are delighted that a group of our learners achieved the coveted grade 9 across mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. These results are a testament to the huge amount of hard work undertaken by staff and learners and open the doors for future success.”

Some of the top performing learners included Cain Hullah, Liam Smith and William Rhodes from Stoke-on-Trent, Lucas Dunkley from Crewe and Oli Thompson from Derby. All five learners achieved a grade 9 in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Along with these more traditional GCSE subjects, the five learners also achieved top grades in their business, engineering and personal finance subjects. Four of the learners have applied to The JCB Academy Sixth Form to continue their education; Lucas has chosen an engineering diploma along with A-level mathematics and Cain, William and Oli have all chosen to study a variety of A-levels including mathematics, further mathematics, physics, chemistry and ICT.
