Australia Exchange – July 2017

After arriving at The Academy on Monday, our Australian Exchange learners have been experiencing all aspects of life at The JCB Academy.

On Tuesday they were given the opportunity to spend time in our workshops with some of our apprentices. Staff and learners were then taken on a comprehensive tour of the JCB factory, where they were able to observe how the skills they had practiced on Tuesday would be used in the working environment.

After seeing one aspect of The Academy, the Australian learners then spent Thursday shadowing their host learners in The JCB Academy 6th Form. The day was concluded with an evening of bowling.

The staff from St Patrick’s Technical College then took their learners to visit the National Memorial Aboretum and Croxden Abbey.

On Saturday both U.K. and Australian staff and learners spent the morning at the World of Wedgwood, where they designed a plate and had a tour of the factory. Their designs will be put onto a plate and sent to them in Australia.

Before returning to London on Thursday 13th July, the learners will be visiting Alton Towers, Manchester Museum of Science and Industry and take part in our activity week where they will be climbing and clay pigeon shooting.
