A-level Results 2019 – Fulfilling Aspirations
The JCB Academy Sixth Form has once again fulfilled the aspirations of its learners by creating opportunities through its partnerships with businesses and universities. Mrs J McGuirk, Principal at The JCB Academy, said: “The JCB Academy was delighted that learners achieved fantastic results this year. In the Advanced level subjects for year 13 learners, 50% of grades awarded were at A*-B with 75% at A*-C and 100% achieving a pass grade. The Academy has a key mission of ‘changing lives by developing the engineers and business leaders for the future’. Therefore a significant number of learners undertake programmes in these key areas. Across the Engineering and Business Diploma courses over 80% of all grades achieved were at a Distinction or Distinction star level. These outcomes are a real testament to the hard work and commitment shown by learners and teachers.”
The JCB Academy Sixth Form in Rocester attracts learners with an interest in engineering and/or business. The intake comes from its own academy and several other schools across Staffordshire and Derbyshire; external learners equate to approximately 40% of the overall intake.
This year’s learners at The JCB Academy Sixth Form have received the best results ever in a range of subjects with the engineering learners excelling in their grades. Two learners, Saad Butt from Stoke-on-Trent and Oliver Clough from Stafford both gained a D*D* in his Engineering Diploma but are each taking different pathways. Oliver has chosen to go on to university, whilst Saad has gained a mechanical engineering degree apprenticeship with Babcock International who specialises in defence, emergency services and civil nuclear. Saad said: “The JCB Academy has tailored me to become a professional engineer and I now have a degree apprenticeship secured.”
