Transitioning to a new school can feel challenging, and we understand that every learner’s journey is unique. At The JCB Academy, we work hard to ensure all learners settle well, feel supported, and are confident in asking for help whenever they need it. Our pastoral team is here to provide guidance, care, and practical support throughout your time with us.
Every Pre-16 learner is allocated to a tutor group when they join the academy. Tutors meet learners during scheduled tutor time each week and act as the first point of contact for both learners and parents/carers.
Each year group is led by an Associate Director of Year (part of our senior leadership and safeguarding team) and supported by an Assistant Head of Year. They are always available to help with pastoral concerns, address behavioural or safeguarding issues, and support tutors in caring for learners.
For learners who require additional support, our SENCO and Assistant SENCO, along with a team of Subject Support Mentors (SSMs), provide tailored assistance. This may include in-class support, interventions, guidance, or smaller ratio working. Our dedicated HUB facility, located in the Old Lodge building across from the main academy, offers an alternative space when needed.
We have zero tolerance for bullying or discrimination of any kind. This includes racial, sexual, and homophobic language or harassment.
Our commitment is clear: The JCB Academy is a diverse and inclusive community where every learner can thrive, free from fear. Through our Road to Zero campaign, we encourage everyone to report concerns; either in person to your tutor or year team, or discreetly using QR codes displayed around the Academy. #StopBullying
