Admissions at The JCB Academy

The JCB Academy is a non-selective, state-funded academy for learners aged 13 to 19, and an accredited apprenticeship training provider. We are widely regarded as one of the most sought-after schools in the region, serving an 18-mile radius that includes Stoke on Trent, Stafford, Derby, Leek, Ashbourne, and Burton upon Trent.

Year 9 Application Process

Applicants living in Staffordshire (excluding Stoke on Trent):

      • Apply via Staffordshire Local Authority AND The JCB Academy by 31 October as part of the coordinated admissions scheme.
      • To receive an invitation to a fair banding assessment, applications must be submitted by 31 October.
      • Applications made between 1 November and 31 January should be submitted directly to The JCB Academy.

Applicants outside Staffordshire:

      • Apply directly to The JCB Academy.
      • To receive an invitation to a fair banding assessment, applications must be submitted by 31 October.
      • Applications made between 1 November and 31 January should be submitted directly to The JCB Academy.

Sixth Form Application Process

  • Applications are made directly to The JCB Academy.
  • Deadline: First Monday of February preceding entry (e.g., 1 February 2026 for September 2026 entry).
  • Late applications may be considered if places are available.

Admission Criteria

Minimum academic entry requirements apply for Sixth Form.

Requirements are published annually on our website and signposted from Staffordshire LA’s site.

If undersubscribed, all applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be admitted.
