Attendance & Absence

Attendance Matters

Every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of success, and even a few missed days can quickly add up. By attending every day, learners give themselves the best chance to achieve their full potential and prepare for future opportunities.

Did you know? Missing just 17 days in a year is equivalent to losing an entire year of learning by age 16. Let’s make every day count.

Why Attendance is Important

  • Attendance is mandatory under government guidance
  • Parents/carers have a legal responsibility to ensure their child attends regularly
  • The academy records attendance and follows up on absences in line with statutory requirements
  • Persistent absence (below 90% attendance) is classed as a serious concern

Our Commitment

We work in partnership with parents and learners to support excellent attendance. If attendance falls below 95%, or if there are unauthorised absences, we will offer support and guidance.

Reporting Absence

  • Daily Absences & Medical Appointments: Report via the ClassCharts app, attaching appointment confirmation where applicable
  • Unexpected Absences: Notify us as early as possible, ideally first thing in the morning
  • Leave of Absence Requests: Complete the Leave of Absence Form well in advance
