Business Studies (Enterprise & Marketing)

Our Intent

Business is at the heart of The JCB Academy. We aim to develop future leaders in engineering, enterprise, and business by offering the Cambridge OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing (J837). This course equips learners with practical business knowledge, key concepts, and real-world experience, preparing them for further study, apprenticeships, or employment in the business sector.

What Learners Will Study

Learners explore core business and marketing principles through a combination of external assessment and coursework:

  • R067 – Enterprise and Marketing Concepts (external exam):
Topics include the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, risk and reward, market research, financial viability, marketing mix, and start-up considerations.
  • R068 – Design a Business Proposal (NEA, OCR-moderated):
Learners identify a customer profile, conduct market research, create a product proposal, calculate financial viability, and evaluate business success.
  • R069 – Market and Pitch a Business Proposal (NEA, OCR-moderated):
Focuses on brand development, promotional campaigns, pitching to an audience, and self-assessment of the proposal.

This programme builds practical skills in verbal communication, presentation, research, problem-solving, digital planning, and creative thinking which are valuable in real workplace settings.
