Unilathe, a contract precision engineering company was established 45 years ago with one lathe (hence Unilathe) in a tiny workshop in Stoke on Trent. It has developed since that time such that it now has 110 employees and a total of 70 machine tools, offering the entire range of turning, milling and fabrication services to its customers. The Company supplies into the Off-Highway, Oil and Gas, Rail, Mining and Aerospace sectors and is a tier 1 and tier 2 supplier into OEM customers in each sector. Whilst it has remained close to its roots, it now operates from a 4.5 acre site at Ford Green Business Park near to Smallthorne, Stoke on Trent which it owns.

Unilathe is an ambitious business which readily embraces new techniques and ideas. It has been transformed over the last few years with additional state-of-the-art machinery, modern production management techniques, the introduction of new software and tool management as well as an investment in contemporary quality assurance techniques and equipment and a significant investment in its people.

These changes have enabled Unilathe to be re-positioned as a trusted partner in the pursuit of modern commercial relationships with a number of notable blue-chip companies in the Off-Highway, Mining and Aerospace sectors. It has elevated the company to being the sole supplier into a company at the fore-front of sub-sea production development and is also recognised as being the most responsive to some developments in the rail industry. These are just some of the examples of a business which is ground breaking in its own field.
