A Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship is a program that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction that will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to work as an engineering technician. The apprenticeship takes 4 years to complete and will lead to nationally recognised qualifications. The engineering technician apprenticeship covers a range of topics, including:

  • engineering principles
  • technical mathematics
  • computer-aided design (CAD)
  • mechanical and electrical engineering

Apprentices will also learn about manufacturing processes, quality control, and maintenance, as well as health and safety regulations. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to work independently as engineering technician and may be able to progress to higher-level roles within the company.

The apprenticeship standard may also involve the completion of a portfolio of evidence, which includes assessments of the apprentice’s knowledge, skills and competences acquired during the course of the apprenticeship.

The training provided in this apprenticeship standard will be tailored to the specific needs of the employer and the individual apprentice, with the goal of equipping the apprentice with the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively as an engineering technician.
